No Floss In The Supermarket

There’s no floss in the supermarket
And empty shells of human beings
I came in here for a packet of Hobnobs
And a tin of sardines

These empty shelves make me feel anxious
There’ll be more fuss when they’re low on booze
If this was Russia back in the seventies
It’d be all over the news

I’m just surprised there’s no panic buying
I guess stockpiling’s no longer in vogue
Is everybody fatigued by the lying
And just resigned to a life of no hope

There’s no floss in the supermarket
Everybody looks like zombies
Shuffling around looking for Hobnobs
And a tin of sardines

I’m all tuned in, I see all the programmes
I watch the news on the BBC
They seem to be blasé about Brexit
They make out Scotland is too stupid and wee
Meanwhile in the aisles, there’s piles and piles
Of pot noodles and gravy
Long distance drivers can’t clock up the miles
And the silence makes me angry

There’s no floss in the supermarket
They’re running very low on baked beans
I’m not sure if the creatures in here
Are even human beings

There’s no floss in the supermarket
Everybody looks like zombies
Shuffling around looking for Hobnobs
And a tin of sardines
